倪勝民神父過逝，我除了為他祈禱，也想和您分享一個小故事。

雖然不是直接認識倪神父，卻知道他是一位非常親切，完全沒有架子的總會長。2014年10月，我們一群志工緊鑼密鼓地忙著《世事洞明 人情練達 顏哲泰神父口述歷史》這本書付印以前的最後一哩路。我們知道倪神父和颜神父早年在菲律賓的東亞牧靈學院一起服務，交情很好。因此央請詹德隆神父幫忙向倪神父邀稿。

倪神父在百忙之中很快有了回覆。他以英文點出顔神父的人格特質，很生動有趣地回憶往事，结束時並稱顔神父是了不起的耶穌會士，也是他很好的朋友。中英文俱佳的本書撰稿人，范京生大哥火速將其譯為中文。本文遂成為該書的一個亮點。

後來倪神父以總會長身分訪問台灣，這本書當即呈贈給他，以示感謝。

以下便是六年前的這段文字姻緣。

一些往事

在生命的路途上，隨手散播歡笑，總是怡然自得；顏哲泰神父（Pepe Calle）是擁有這特質的極少數人當中的一位。他總不會讓人對他有不舒服的感覺。以拉丁民族的用語來說，他非常地幽默風趣，不把自己看得太重要，他也不讓艱難和困局擊敗他，因為他深信終究會過去。

「伯伯」（Pepe）知道，凡事不會一成不變，也不致於無可挽救。高度的幽默感使他不致提早焦慮，而顯得緊張兮兮，造成與他人相處困難。

與「伯伯」相處的諸多趣事中，我還記得一些。有一次，一同觀賞電視上的奧運轉播。眾人正齊聲讚嘆優秀體操選手在力與美所展現的精準動作之時，他突然大聲地嚷說：「為何我做不到這個樣子，有人能告訴我嗎？」

類似的場景，也發生於我們在東亞牧靈學院（EAPI）一同觀賞《樞機主教》這部電視影片時。當電影放映到仍是年輕修生的男主角，在海灘上準備下水游泳時，突然間迎面走來兩名美艷的少女，這正是影片想要呈現觸電感覺的戲劇效果。就在這個當下，眾人都清楚地聽到「伯伯」開口說話了：「為何我就從未遇見過這檔子的事？」也就是在這種詼諧的氛圍下，我們才能繼續看完這部電影。

極佳的幽默感促使他熱情四溢，讓別人樂於親近他。在沮喪的時刻，許多人前來找他，尋求一句鼓勵的話，或是期待一個溫馨的安慰。我們都曾經欣慰地親眼目睹，奎松市（馬尼拉市近郊）的貧苦人家不間斷地前來找他，卻無視於我等其他人的存在。因為，僅只在他的身上，他們才能感受到同理心的憐憫。

顏哲泰神父是一位了不起的耶穌會士，也是我很好的朋友。

 
Memories of Pepe Calle.

Pepe Calle is one of those very few persons that walk through life sowing smiles and one has difficulty in remembering anything unpleasant about them. Not only he is what the Latin people call very “simpatico”, but he appears as one of those persons that do not take themselves too seriously, nor do they allow passing problems or difficult situations ever crash them .

Pepe Calle knows that there are no final and definitive situations. His extraordinary sense of humor has helped him overcome those premature alarms that tend to make us tense and make our dealings with others difficult.

Among the most funny memories I have of Pepe Calle I could count that time when we were watching the Olympic Games on Television. At a given moment, when we were admiring the best gymnasts of the world perform and show their agility and their ability to control very precise movements, Pepe Calle came out loud with the words: “Can anybody tell me why I cannot do the same?”

A similar moment happened when we were watching on the TV of the EAPI the movie “The Cardinal”. When the Protagonist, who was then a Seminarian, was on the beach considering a swim, two beautiful girls came suddenly from the sea and the electricity they produced told us that the drama of the film was served. In that moment of drama and suspense we all heard the voice of Pepe Calle saying: “Why hasn´t this ever happened to me?” That helped us all endure the rest of the movie.

This sense of humor has helped Pepe Calle to be also a person of great compassion and very easy to approach. Many have approached him for a word of encouragement and consolation during a dark moment. We have all seen with admiration how the poor of Quezon City would ignore us and flock to Pepe because in him they could feel an empathy that the rest of us did not have.

Pepe is one of the greatest Jesuits I have ever met. And a very good friend.
