留意两种内、外的克己的分别：
前者是主要的，人应时常寻求的；
后者按照地点、人物及时间等处境衡量。

You must attend to both kinds of mortification, interior and exterior; but with this difference, that the former is the principal, to be sought always and by everyone, the latter is to be measured by the circumstances of place, person, and time.
