FR. FUTO, YOSHIO IGNATIUS underwent a surgical procedure for stomach cancer at the Cardinal Tien Hospital, Taipei, on Feb. 3, 2010. Due to post-operation internal bleeding, which could not be stopped, Fr. Futo went peacefully to the Lord on Feb. 27, 2010, at 11:07 a.m.

Fr. Futo was born in Osaka, Japan, on July 25, 1949. He entered the Society in Hiroshima, Japan, on Apr. 2, 1973, was ordained to the priesthood on Feb. 25, 1981, at the Cathedral of Nagasaki by Pope John Paul II, and professed his last vows on Jan. 4, 1987, at Sophia University, Tokyo.

All priests of the Chinese Province will celebrate one Mass first intention for Fr. Futo’s eternal rest. Those who are not priests will offer one Mass and Communion and recite one “corona”. The members of Holy Family Residence will offer two Masses, etc.
