If you had 15 minutes to speak face to face with Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church, what topics would you bring up during the conversation?
Would you ask about the Pope’s private life? How does he pray? What is the biggest challenge he has faced during his papacy? What dreams does he have for the Catholic Church? Or perhaps discuss some lesser-known topics?
On May 24, 2024, as the Church celebrated the Feast of Mary Help of Christians, Father Pedro Chia, SJ, director of the Jesuit Communication Office of the Chinese Province, had the privilege of speaking face-to-face with Pope Francis. The meeting took place in the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican, alongside Mr. Clemens Chan, Chairman of Kuangchi Program Service, Taipei.
The interview, conducted entirely in Spanish, covered 16 topics, including how the Pope handles stress, his secrets for time management, the biggest challenges of his Papacy, unforgettable consoling experiences, how to handle crises in religious life, the Spiritual Exercises and the grace that he usually ask for, his advice for young people considering a Jesuit vocation, his dreams for the Catholic Church 50 years from now, words for the next Pope, an Apostolic Visit to China, his message for Chinese Catholics around the world and other topics too.
At the end of the interview, Pope Francis joyfully imparted his Apostolic Blessing to Chinese Catholics around the world. Don’t miss this exclusive interview, available with subtitles in Chinese, Spanish, and English!
