About two years ago, Fr. Daniel Ross, S.J., (Fu Jen University, Sociology/Social Work Departments) traveled to Cambodia with 8 or 9 social work and sociology students from Fu Jen, to visit children for whom they are providing scholarships.
At that time, they discovered a need in a small village to build a school building. In March of this year, the new school building was inaugurated in the village of Beng Ktum, Cambodia, which is about an eight-hour drive north of Phnom Penh.
The building was built by the labor and effort of the local people of this very poor farming village, about 40 families, but it was made possible only by the financial aid and
encouragement that was given by Fr. Ross and a group of his former Fu Jen students and benefactors.
The Fu Jen University students also supplied money for a village well and are now gathering funds to build a toilet for the school. What the students learn at Fu Jen University does not end in the classroom, but continues beyond the walls of the University to have a very positive effect in society and in the world!
